Tips for Brewing Imperial Stout

  • For a 5 gallon quantity, a grain bill varying from 17.5 to 20 pounds is general. Malts like Black Patent, Midnight Wheat, Chocolate Rye, and Roasted Barley can be used while forming a recipe.
  • For a 5 gallon quantity, hops must be present for cutting into some of the malty sweetness from a grain bill approaching nearly 20 pounds. For excellent method include Northern Brewer, East Kent Goldings, and Magnum
  • Different strains of yeast will be best for the imperial stout like White Labs San Diego WLP090 and Imperial Yeast’s Darkness.
